Rlys doubles compensation for accident
New Delhi, Dec 27, 2016, DHNS:

The Railways has decided to double the amount of compensation given in the case of rail accidents. The decision will come into effect from January 1, 2017.
“The amount given in every category has been doubled,” Railways spokesperson Anil Kumar Saxena told DH.
Now, in the case of death, the family of the deceased will get Rs 8 lakh instead of the Rs 4 lakh that was given earlier. And if person loses a hand or a leg or eyes, the compensation will be Rs 8 lakh instead of Rs 4 lakh.
In the case of other injuries, the amount of compensation varies from Rs 32, 000 to Rs 4 lakh. These amounts will also be doubled. According to Railways laws, on-duty staff and passengers are eligible for claiming compenstation.
