Honorary doctorate for Shahrukh Khan
Hyderabad, Dec 27, 2016, DHNS:

Twenty-eight years after graduating from Delhi’s Hansraj College, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan on Monday received his honorary doctoral degree from the Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) here.
The actor was given the honorary degree at the varsity’s sixth convocation for promoting Urdu language and culture. He received the award from MANUU Chancellor Zafar Sareshwala, as the chief guest of the function President Pranab Mukherjee could not be present.
In his brief acceptance speech, Shahrukh quipped he was not sure why he was given the honour. “I don’t know if I’m capable of receiving this honour. As you have already announced, I’m happy to receive the honour,” he said.
Mentioning that his parents would have been happier to see him receive the honorary degree, Shahrukh said his father Meer Taj Mohammad Khan believed in education. “He was a freedom fighter and a fan of Maulana Azad ji. He even contested in an election as an independent candidate and lost deposit,” Shahrukh said.
