Note ban against poor: Rahul
Jaipur, Dec 27, 2016, DHNS:
'Woes won't end even after Dec 30 as promised'

Hitting at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi said that demonetisation was a drive against the poor and not the corrupt, as in India, only 1% of the people hold black money.
Rahul was addressing a public rally in Rajasthan’s Baran district. Calling demonetisation an “economic lockdown”, Rahul said, “On no particular date will a full stop be put to the miseries of the people after demonetisation. Modi’s note ban step has failed and even after December 30, people will continue to suffer, especially the poor and farmers.”
He said not all cash was black money and not all black money was in cash.“The corrupt are too smart to keep it in cash,” he said.
Rahul said that Vasundhara Raje’s government in the state and Modi’s government at the Centre were running on the same line. Both the governments have failed miserably and have not taken a single step for the poor, he said.
“Vasundhara is doing in Rajasthan what Modi is doing in the country. The state government has failed to work for tribals, Dalits and women. The state government, too, is for the rich,” he said.
“Suit-boot ki sarkar Delhi aur Rajasthan mein baithi hai (there is a suit-boot government in the country and Rajasthan).”
Criticising the Public Private Partnership concept running in the state, he said, “In Rajasthan, privatisation is on the peak. Power tariff is raised by 18%. The government schemes have been leased out to private partnership.”
Rahul, in his speech, also alleged the BJP government of not fulfilling three demands of the farmers: debt waiver, lower power tariff and appropriate price for their produce.
