Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Najeeb Jung-controlled Anti-Corruption Branch has launched a probe into the lapses in the AAP government’s proposal for introducing an app-based premium bus service.

The process for registration of bus operators for the scheme was initially supposed to begin from June 1.

The investigation, initiated on the complaint given on Tuesday by the BJP’s Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, revolves around claims of the proposal being notified without the LG’s nod and favouring a particular Gurgaon-based aggregator. Anti-Corruption Branch chief M K Meena said, “We have got a complaint. We are looking into the matter.”

A functionary at Kejriwal’s office said the elected government was not wrong in issuing the notification without sending the file to Jung.

Gupta told reporters that the ACB has initiated a criminal probe into the scam of framing, approving and notifying the app-based premium bus service scheme. The scheme was framed and notified by the AAP government to provide huge financial benefit to the Gurgaon-based aggregator platform, he claimed.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader said the use of LG’s name, without sanction, in the notification amounted to breach of trust and an act of deceit that called for a criminal probe.
