Delhi Metrino project to start in 2 months: Gadkari
NEW DELHI, June 8, 2016, DHNS:

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Tuesday said the Metrino public transport project is scheduled to hit the ground in the next two months.
“We have received four tenders for Metrino project to be build from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi to Manesar in Haryana. We have received four tenders for that and expect the work to begin in the two months,” he told reporters here.
To start with, the project will connect the 70 km stretch from Dhaula Kuan in Delhi to Manesar in Haryana to decongest the national capital region and ease traffic.
The total cost of the project is Rs 4,000 crore and the entire investment will be made by the private company, which bagged the project.
Driverless
In the Metrino system, fully automated and driverless small vehicles—known as pods—will travel suspended under an overhead network. It will come down at the station.
The network consists of a number of stations or stops for passengers to get on and get off. The average speed of the pods is 60 km per hour.
Every pod of the Metrino taxi can accommodate up to 5 passengers and the fare is likely to be similar to that of the Metro rail in Delhi.
“The capital cost of metro is Rs 250 crore per km whereas this will cost Rs 50 crore per km,” the minister said.
