Heatwave continues in AP, Telangana

Day time temperature remained alarmingly high in several parts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Sunday with the mercury touching 40 degree Celsius and above.
Karimnagar in northern Telangana recorded 45 degrees, the highest for the state, while Medak and Adilabad registered 44 and 43 degrees respectively. Hyderabad, Khammam, Mahbubnagar, Bhadrachalam and Hakimpet reeled under 42 degrees.
Southern Hyderabad, however, had a brief respite from the scorcher as it witnessed drizzles in the afternoon. Rain and gale winds were also reported in parts of Medak and Karimnagar districts.
In Andhra Pradesh, Anantapur and Kurnool were the hottest with 43 degrees, followed by 42 in Kadapa, 41 in Tirupati, 40 in Vijayawada, Nellore and Nandigama.
Weather department predicts hot winds for at least two more days in Telangana’s Rangareddy district and AP’s Anantapur, Kurnool and Kadapa.
Mercury soars in Uttar Pradesh
Uttar Pradesh continued to experience severe heat wave conditions with the mercury soaring to 45 degrees at several places, DHNS report from Lucknow.
According to official sources here, Banda recorded a maximum temperature of 45.4 degree Celsius on Sunday making it the hottest place in the state. Temperatures hovered around 44 degrees in Lucknow.
Weather office said that there would be respite from the heat wave in the next couple of days.
