A high-level probe panel, investigating the charge of sexual exploitation of a woman police officer by a male IPS officer, found the allegation against the accused to be true and has, therefore, recommended departmental proceedings against the SP-rank official.

In its report submitted to the Home Department, a copy of which was submitted to Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP), the investigating committee concluded that the said accused, Pushkar Anand, then posted as SP of Kaimur, did sexually exploit a DSP, his junior.

In its report, the panel said that the IPS officer admitted this charge, and, therefore, departmental action should be initiated against the former SP.

In her interaction with media in January 2015, the victim had stunned everyone when she said that she had filed a complaint against her senior Anand alleging that he had sexually exploited her on the pretext of marriage.

In the FIR (No. 47/14), she had alleged that two days after joining as Kaimur SP in July 2014, Anand had proposed marriage to her through Facebook and WhatsApp. Serving as sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) in Kaimur, the victim said, in the following months when their marriage looked certain, they established intimate relationships and stayed at each other’s place.

She further complained that when her parents requested the SP to fix the marriage date, Anand refused it on the ground that their horoscope did not match.

In the FIR the victim had alleged that two days after joining as Kaimur SP in July 2014, Anand had proposed marriage to her through Facebook and WhatsApp.
