AIADMK cadres 'force' Jaya tattoo on minor

The AIADMK landed in a controversy on Friday after a minor girl was “allegedly” forced by senior party functionaries recently to get Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s picture tattooed.
The incident took place when hundreds of cadres, including the girl, led by Velachery MLA Ashok, tattooed Jayalalithaa’s image on their hands as a part of her 68th birthday celebrations.
The video clip, which shows the girl crying in pain when she is being tattooed, went viral during the last few days triggering criticism from various political leaders. The function was organised in presence of various party leaders, including senior party leader and Finance Minister O Panneerselvam. Though the AIADMK claimed that the girl was not forced, Change India, a Chennai-based rights organisation reported the issue to the National Human Rights Commission.
The AIADMK cadres also claim that the girl had given a written statement saying that partymen did not compel her.
Incidentally, MLA Ashok was stripped off his party post by the AIADMK high command a few days ago.
In a letter, the NGO asked the state government to formulate a rule to prevent such incidents, especially at political gatherings.
